Is a subject I'm currently studying at the University of Queensland, to complete my degree. This subject is about Social and Mobile Computing. I find this to be a subject that has captured my interest, as it not only looks at the technology side of social software but also the humanities side of approaching the design of social software.
Finding out how people interact with technology, why they interact with it. All this is I would say, is fundamental to designing the software around the user, because then we have a good idea of how they interact with the technology and can design it to be more user friendly and enjoyable to use.
One of my favourite words is "Ubiquitous Computing". How many people understand what that actually means? My understanding of that word is that the technology we interact with everyday is in the periphary. Which means that we really don't take a second glance, as oppose to the computer that is plonked down in front of us everyday.
I think this makes sense. Please feel free to comment on this as we are all learning new things everyday. Also it helps us understand better if we have some positive critical comments from our peers.
