Mobile Technology

This was a very interesting demonstration to watch. A peice of mobile technology that can let us interact with the realworld around us. Now here are some ideas to think on. What impact would this have on the mobile technology already available? Could this technology be used in mobile gaming environments? (e.g. 'can you see me now') If so, how couldit be used in that environment and what impacts would it have on the technology already being used in thatenvironment? Seeing as this technology is already coupled with a mobile phone, could it be coupled with other typesof technology? What would the advantages and disadvantages be?

Just something to think about. Click the link to watch the demonstration of this technology if you already haven't.

Comp 3505

Is a subject I'm currently studying at the University of Queensland, to complete my degree. This subject is about Social and Mobile Computing. I find this to be a subject that has captured my interest, as it not only looks at the technology side of social software but also the humanities side of approaching the design of social software.

Finding out how people interact with technology, why they interact with it. All this is I would say, is fundamental to designing the software around the user, because then we have a good idea of how they interact with the technology and can design it to be more user friendly and enjoyable to use.

One of my favourite words is "Ubiquitous Computing". How many people understand what that actually means? My understanding of that word is that the technology we interact with everyday is in the periphary. Which means that we really don't take a second glance, as oppose to the computer that is plonked down in front of us everyday.

I think this makes sense. Please feel free to comment on this as we are all learning new things everyday. Also it helps us understand better if we have some positive critical comments from our peers.

About Me

Just a little bit about me. I have interests in the graphic/web design and print industries. I have done some designs for posters, flyers, pamphlets, business cards that are currently being used by a martial arts club. So it gives one some satisfaction to see their hard work being used and getting seen by others.

I used to be a bouncer for 7 years and have had my fill of dealing with idiots. So, I do have a lot of patience but very little tolerance for idiots, nitwits and others that fall into these types of categories. Some people think i'm anti-social! I suppose I am to a degree but that's just me, I like my quiet time (BEWARE!! Creature may bite if provoked). I suppose this is due to some of the more unsavoury venues I used to work at.

I think that's enough for now.
